Never Stop Riding
By Julia Foley

Did you know that approximately one third of trike riders are women, more than three times the industry average? First time riders also are experimenting with trikes as there is added security for those uneasy on two wheels. Many bikers are returning to the riding industry and are enjoying the added comfort, confidence and stability a trike provides.

I represent a company called Carson’s, which joined the Lehman Trike team in January of 2008. We offer conversions for Honda - GL1800, Suzuki - C50 and C90, Harley Davidson - FLH, FLT, FLSTF/N/C, FXST, FXD, XL 883/1200. Lehman began in 1984 in Westlock, Alberta, Canada, when John Lehman built a Trike for his wife, Linda. Lehman Trike’s has grown from a backyard business that has become a showroom necessity for dealers worldwide. Though still relatively new to some people, most readily recognize Lehman Trike as a part of the motorcycle culture.

What may appear to have happened very quickly has actually been developing for two decades. I feel that we are still in the early stages of a growth curve for the trike business. We are all witness to the maturing rider demographic, based on the “baby boomer” generation. This shift will continue to support the increasing trike demand for many years to come.

Lehman trike’s devolvement has taken another direction by entering an agreement with Harley Davidson for the development of the Tri-Glide. Another strong indication that trikes are gaining popularity.

Baker drivetrain has an agreement with Lehman Trikes this supplies the reverse gear. Baker and Lehman feel that the reverse compliments the Harley Davidson 6 speed like original equipment

Lehman is searching for the 2009 “Good Turn Trike” recipient. The purpose of the good turn trike program is to allow anyone with a love of motorcycles to keep riding despite their physical or financial means. This is also to pay recognition to those who go above and beyond the call of duty to make a difference in this world.
