What
Women Ride
HH has compiled a list of
the most popular street motorcycles that women ride
today. Special thanks to all the international and
national women’s motorcycle clubs and organizations for
responding to make this list possible!
#1.
Honda -
Ridden for
its performance and reliability, but loved for its style
and price, Honda captures the heart and soul of the
majority of women riders on the road today. From the
cruisers like the Rebel, Shadow and Valkyrie, to the
super sporty CBR, this legendary company still proves
that “You meet the nicest people on a Honda.”

#2.
Harley-Davidson – There’s
no doubt that when it comes to the cruiser, HD is
King Queen. More women are becoming
die-hard fans of this coveted V-Twin for as many reasons
as the models they ride. From the Sportster and Dyna-Super
Glide, to the Softail and Ultra Classic, HD is making
sure that women are in fact,
“Not
a backrest.”

#3.
BMW -
Globally-known for it’s luxurious automobiles, BMW
delivers an equally posh two wheel ride. BMW bike owners
are willing to shell out a little more because they know
to expect top-of-the-line comfort and handling on those
long distance rides. Many females go the distance on
their CS and GS, Dakar, Enduro and Adventure series.

#4.
Suzuki –Is synonymous with
sport bike, and for an increasing number of females,
torque is where it’s at. Suzuki is ridden by women who
welcome acceleration and expect razor-sharp performance,
but also appreciate its dependability and sleek
design. From cruisers like the Bandit, Intruder and
Boulevard, to its flagship brand GSX and V-Strom, Suzuki
makes an attractive choice for women. Pictured:

#5.
Yamaha -
Continues to be a popular choice among many women
riders. Whether she craves the roar of a V-Twin or
hugging the twisties, Yamaha offers both dependability
and value -- features that are important to women. The
Star series and Virago lead the cruisers, while the
sport bikes are all over the female purchasing map with
the FZS, XJ and TDM’s topping the list. Pictured:

#6.
Kawasaki – Not only does
Kawasaki make a high-performance speed machine, but the
company has done so much to advance women and
motorcycling -- perhaps one reason why this brand is
becoming more popular with female riders. From the Ninja
sport bike series, to its Vulcan cruisers, women are
seeing green.

#7.
Ducati – For many women,
Ducati is the only bike for them. These are the women
who are either already racing, or are thinking about it.
You don’t have to be an aspiring racer to desire these
bikes, but you better be serious about owning one, as
this Italian import can be pricey. The Monster series
and the Super sports dominate the tastes of these women.

#8.
Triumph
- No matter what kind of bike women seem to gravitate
toward, none can top the nostalgic charm of the Triumph.
Women are buying Triumphs in the modern classics like
the Bonneville, and sportier styles like the Tigers,
Speed and Sprints, along with the newer in-your-face
Rocket III cruisers. ‘Just to be different’ seems to be
the driving factor of owning this rare breed.

#9.
Moto Guzzi - Something about those
protruding cylinders that drive women to Moto Guzzi. The
sheer technical beauty of these machines make them worth
its price tag alone. Women enjoy a wide range of styles
from the beloved Breva and the classic EV, to the LeMans
and Super Alce. Pictured: Lusty and her special

#10.
Aprilia – Is
making strides at introducing its exclusive Italian
sport bike to the US female market by offering test
rides at women’s track day events. It seems to be
working as there were enough owners to grab our number
ten spot with the most common ridden, super sport RSV
series. Pictured: Lissa and her RSV1000R; USA
Honorable
Mention: Buell Blast - We thought we’d include a
bike that would have made it to number 11, but since
this is a TOP TEN list and not eleven, it was still
worthy of mentioning. Buell Blast has been one of the
most popular choices for first-time female riders
because they are easy to maneuver, inexpensive and
cleverly designed to look sporty, but sound like a
cruiser.
